Westfield North Lakes Redevelopment
- Scentre Design & Construction Pty Ltd
- $7.6 million
- North Lakes, Qld
In 2015 the Scentre Group announced plans to extend its North Lakes Centre, developing a new restaurant and cinema precinct, fresh food marketplace and link mall to the new Ikea development.
The project saw ALLROADS awarded 3 separate contracts totaling more than $7.6 million. Contract One included pavement demolition, recycling, bulk excavation and gravel surfacing layer, stormwater trunk infrastructure up to 1800dia at 5m depth and flexible and rigid pavement construction.
Works undertaken across Contract Two included structural ramp and retaining walls, bridgeworks, in-ground services and civil works. More specifically, these works included:
8m Bored Piers and headstocks with concentric loading;
Detailed retaining walls on curved horizontal and vertical alignment;
Cast insitu parapets on curved alignment;
TMR Bridge Rail System;
Stormwater upgrade and pavement reconstruction.
Contract Three works centered around construction of a new managed car park facility including earthworks, stormwater, sewer reticulation, road pavements, asphalt, linemarking, kerb and channel, subsoil drainage, electrical trenching, road furniture and signage, erosion and sediment control, concrete works and traffic control.
The developer required an early handover of the Early Works trade package to coincide with a stage opening within the Shopping Centre. This required ALLROADS to hand over the Ramp Structure complete and four weeks ahead of program. This early handover required a complex traffic changeover and additional provision for traffic measures to protect our workers.
Environmental management was also critical to the success of the works, with stringent environmental controls required to protect nearby Wetlands of significant environmental value. In addition, full pavement recycling and careful management of reclaimed materials was undertaken and the unique ALLROADS Green Machine deployed onsite to assist with sediment control and water quality.
