Constructive Thinking Experts

ALLROADS were awarded the contract to undertake Intersection upgrade works at Wembley Road and Third Avenue as part of Logan City council’s Panel of Preferred Providers for Civil Construction Services.

Works performed under the contract included: road widening and installation of a left turn lane, pavement and surfacing works, kerb and channel, stormwater drainage; electrical lighting and PUP relocations including realigning existing Telstra and NBN lines.

The construction of a signalised intersection was one of the key elements of the project with construction works including:

  • A vehicle storage lane on Wembley Road for traffic turning right into Third Avenue,

  • A high entry free left turn on Third Avenue to Wembley Road westbound carriageway,

  • Dual right turn lanes from Third Avenue to Wembley Road eastbound carriageway,

  • Auxiliary through lanes in both directions on Wembley Road through the intersection to enable saturation flow to be maintained across the stop line during peak periods.

Works were constructed under live traffic conditions and involved strategic staging to reduce disruption to the public, with some of the works carried out at night to achieve minimal impact to road users.

ALLROADS developed a well thought out methodology based on delivering the Wembley Road and Third Avenue roadworks in a safe and time efficient manner whilst minimising the impacts on the general public, property owners and the wildlife that inhabit the site.

Additional safety measures were implemented due to working behind concrete barriers on either side of Wembley Rd.

  • 5,600m3 export material

  • 2,000m3 cut to spoil

  • 5,000t asphalt

  • Installation of electrical lighting and a signalised intersection

  • Liaison with Telstra, Optus, NBN & Logan Water during all relocations

  • Works constructed under live traffic conditions

  • Environmental Management including erosion and sediment controls, pre and post clearing inspections and fauna and flora spotting
