Cleveland Redland Bay Rd & Giles Rd Intersection Upgrade

Shoreline Redlands Pty Ltd / Department of Transport & Main Roads

Redland Bay, QLD

$3.35 million

Awarded in late 2017, this contract saw ALLROADS undertake shoulder widening, road embankment, new pavement construction, stormwater drainage, surfacing and installation of lighting and traffic signals as part of the Cleveland Redland Bay Road and Giles Road Intersection Upgrade.

The works further included drainage works, removal of redundant road infrastructure, guardrail installation, fencing, kerb and channel, traffic islands, grouted rock protection, relocation of high voltage overhead power and underground optic fibre services and landscaping.

Working on a major arterial road in the heart of Redland Bay, careful programming and strategic staging was integral to the project delivery in order to ensure a safe and trafficable site was maintained throughout the construction duration.

No lanes closures were permitted during day time working hours (5am-7pm) and therefore, construction was broken down into multiple stages resulting in a number of complex traffic switches whilst maintaining two way traffic at all times.

With our experience in delivering road projects for many local Councils and DTMR, the ALLROADS project delivery team were able to draw on this experience and propose a number of design changes, providing significant savings in both time and cost.

This effective and innovative project and QHSE management approach also enabled the project to be completed as per the schedule.

  • 23,000m2 of tree clearing

  • 31,000m3 of excavation

  • Placement of 4,000m3 of road embankment
